Appointments now available for more than 50 available roles in six musicals

More than 200 actors from throughout the country will arrive in Naples September 9 and 10 to audition for more than 50 roles in TheatreZone’s six musicals for the 2023-24 season, announced TheatreZone’s founding artistic director, Mark Danni.

“The annual arrival in Naples of triple-threat performers – gifted actors, singers and dancers – is a highlight of our season as we build toward our first show in October,” said Danni. “They come from New York City, throughout the southeastern U.S., Texas and beyond.”

TheatreZone’s coveted contract with the Actors’ Equity Association allows it to attract top professional performers from throughout the country.

To secure an appointment email Auditions@Theatre.Zone

Non-Equity performers are also welcome to audition as TheatreZone’s Equity contract allows for a certain number of non-Equity actors in its casts.

The auditions will be held at TheatreZone’s G&L Theatre, located at 13275 Livingston Road in Naples, on the campus of the Community School of Naples The auditions will be held by appointment from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 9 and Sunday, September 10.

To secure an appointment, actors should email Auditions@Theatre.Zone with a preferred date and time range. Equity members without appointments will be seen throughout the day as time permits.

Actors are asked to prepare 32 bars of a song and have a contrasting selection ready. Sheet music in the correct key is required, and an accompanist will be provided. Actors should also bring a picture and resume, stapled together, and be prepared to dance if asked.

Sides for the six musicals will be emailed in advance and also provided at the audition. Visually impaired performers may request an advance copy of the sides when making an audition appointment.

The 2023-2024 season:
Hilarity in horror, comedy in tragedy

TheatreZone’s 19th season features love stories from the comic to the edgy with music ranging from rockabilly to show tunes.

According to Mark Danni, “We are staging lighthearted stories such as Neil Simon’s Little Me and Million Dollar Quartet, and darker dramas like Bonnie & Clyde: The Musical, Heathers: The Musical, and Carrie: The Musical, and finding hilarity in horror, and comedy in tragedy.”

Mark Danni comments, “For our 19th season, I selected memorable musicals with scores ranging from rhythm ‘n blues to gospel to Broadway show tunes by famed composers and lyricists. The concerts round out the season with musical styles as diverse as those in the main stage productions.”
